Jerwood Painting Fellowships

Background

Jerwood Painting Fellowships is an initiative launched in 2010 and designed to provide crucial time and critical support to promising emerging painters in the challenging early stages of their professional practice.

The Fellowships offer three artists bursaries of £10,000 coupled with a year-long mentoring relationship with an established artist, and an exhibition of new work as part of the Jerwood Visual Arts programme at Jerwood Space, London in May 2016 and on tour.

The aim of the Fellowship is to provide a really well supported moment in each Fellow’s practice, allowing them to explore and develop their work and ideas across the year, benefit from the perspective of both their mentor and peer Fellows, and gaining exposure from having a group show in London and on tour. This is the third edition of the Fellowships.

Jerwood Visual Arts wants to hear from emerging painters who are committed to developing their practice. Applicants must be UK resident and be within 5 years of graduating or setting up their practice. Artists cannot have committed gallery representation, or have had or have planned a UK solo show.  Applications are welcome from artists working in any material or painting discipline.
